You've seen him on the History, Travel and Discovery Channels. You've read about his mind-stretching cases and theories in publications from the Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Miami Herald and Los Angeles Times all the way to the South China Daily News.

1. How did you become interested in the supernatural?

When I was 7, I watched my father commit suicide.

2. What's the strangest or most interesting paranormal experience you've had?

Having a physical altercation with a poltergeist.

3. Where/how does science fit into ghost hunting and the supernatural?

It doesn't. Science is equivalent to a straight ruler. The paranormal (the real world) is equivalent to a basketball.

4. Do you have any moral/ethical obligations in ghost hunting or communicating with the dead?

In 40 years in the paranormal trenches, I've seen no evidence whatsoever that there are any dead. I don't even believe that our bodies really die. Our moral obligation is to extend our deepest concept of what is good, holy, right and true not only to those in our conscious world but across the myriad other worlds that reality embraces -- and where those who are "dead" here still thrive, bodies and all. I have seen this at work time and again and have never seen a greater proof that love not only endures but can transform what we call reality.

5. If it were possible to contact or bring back someone from the dead, who would you bring back and why? Try to think of someone who is not famous.

No need. They never left. But if you mean bringing back those who no longer live here but continue elsewhere and elsewhen, I spoke with two shamans (one in Australia and one in Quebec) in the 1970s who claimed to witness this:

other shamans going into parallel worlds to literally drag back two people, bodies and all, who had "died" here. It worked, but it was NOT a good idea. The shamans both assured me that consciousness shifts as it does for good reason.

6. Do you have any other thoughts or interesting theories you'd like to share?

You can't get the right answers if you ask the wrong questions.
